Weekly Blog 4/26

Dear Wines Families,

I have a lot of information today, so please take a moment to read through this.

BIG THANKS!
Our 2nd annual “off site” auction was a smashing success last Saturday night. Thank you to everyone who came out and BIG thanks to Tracie Clarke, Amy Holland, and Kathryn Werns for putting on such an amazing event for our school. I also want to thank Jon and Frances Carlson for letting us use the amazing space at Null Tap House for our event!

Class Placement Parent Input
Over the next few weeks, I will be working with our teachers to make class placement decisions for next year. As we have done in the past, parents have the option to provide us with input as we make these placements. Below is a link to a brief survey to collect your input. As always, we do not allow for specific requests to have your child placed with a certain teacher nor do we allow for specific request for your child not to be placed with a teacher. Below is the link.  The survey will be open until May 12.

Art Night

Save the date for Art Night: Thursday, May 11th from 6:30-8 pm.
Come enjoy student art, and share cookies! Just drop off cookies on your way in, and enjoy.  Want to help run the cookie tables in the cafeteria on Art Night? We would love your help. Click on the Art Night Sign Up Genius to help out.
If you have any questions, please call or text Peg Knight at 360.298.0060, and thank you!

Weekly Blog 4/19

The Wines Auction is this Saturday!
Our second annual Wines Auction is this Saturday, April 22, starting at 6:00 PM. Come enjoy an adult-only casual evening at Null Tap House in Dexter. The ticket price includes a buffet of modern bar fare & sushi. Cash bar.
Our tireless Wines Auction parent volunteers have finalized the Auction Book, which features lots of fabulous silent and live auction items. To view the book, visit: http://winespto.org/docs/2017%20Wines%20Auction%20Book.pdf

Photos of the incredible projects created by each classroom for the live auction were attached to today's email. The document does not have Mrs. Gibbs’ class project. I will send that out as soon as I get it. There are also fun games and a wine pull.

Tickets for the Auction are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. Advance ticket sales will end Thursday (4/20) at midnight. Visit the PTO Marketplace online to purchase: https://squareup.com/market/wines-elementary-school-pto/.

Volunteers are also a vital part of making the Auction a success. If you are willing to help for a short time (just a 1/2 hour!) while you enjoy the festivities, please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e49a8a722aa8-wines.
Proceeds from the Auction will go to purchase our new playground structure. We hope to see you on Saturday!

Art Night is coming!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 11th from 6:30-8 pm. Come enjoy student art, and share cookies. Art Night is a stress-free way to volunteer, and to show your support for art in our schools.

Want to help dress up the halls with art on May 8 (daytime) or May 9 (evening) to help us get ready for the event? Want to help run the cookie tables in the cafeteria on Art Night? We would love your help. Click on the Art Night Sign Up Genius to help out.

If you have any questions, please call Peg Knight at 360.298.0060, and thank you!

Thanks,

David

Weekly Blog 4/12

Dear Wines Families,
I hope you enjoyed your spring break. Our family had a great break until we were caught up in the Delta Airlines mass flight cancellations. We eventually made it home Monday night after experiencing our own version of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Now we are back to school and we enter the very busy “homestretch” of the school year. In the coming weeks, we will complete our state assessments, welcome our incoming Kindergarten students and families to our annual Kindergarten Readiness Day, make class placements for next year, and—of course—engage in the important teaching and learning with students right up until the end!!

Wines Auction is Coming Up!!
Our second annual Wines Auction at Null Tap House in Dexter is right around the corner. The event takes place on Saturday, April 22nd from 6:00 PM until closing. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door. To purchase advance tickets, please go to https://squareup.com/market/wines-elementary-school-pto/.

We are also in need of volunteers to make the Auction a success. If you are able to help, please visit http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e49a8a722aa8-wines and sign up.

Proceeds from our Auction will go to purchase our new playground structure.

Sinking Fund Millage Meeting @ Forsythe
Please join Dr. Swift at Forsythe Middle School on Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 PM in the Media Center to discuss the upcoming Sinking Fund Millage Vote on May 2nd.  Please visit www.a2schools.org for more information as well as additional Q & A sessions with Dr. Swift. I will be meeting with our PTO leadership on Friday morning at 9:00 to discuss the millage. As with all Executive Board meetings, anyone can attend. If you are planning on attending Friday, please let me know in case we need to move the meeting to a larger space.

That’s it for this week!
